Together against anti-Semitism

Wehrgang Arcades

Room for Rent - this is probably the most famous picture book story in Israel. Written by Leah Goldberg in 1959, the story is about a tenement house in which various animals live and are looking for a new tenant. It shows that very different neighbours can live peacefully side by side.

The International Youth Library Foundation is exhibiting the story with the original Hebrew text, a German and English translation and the original illustrations by Shmuel Katz. As an institution built on international understanding from the start and which is committed to its Jewish founder, who was persecuted under National Socialism, we condemn all forms of anti-Semitism and violence and cannot and will not give up hope that peace and reconciliation are still possible.

The exhibition is free of charge and located in the Wehrgang Arcades in the castle courtyard.
