Literary Research

With the exception of a few special collections and those holdings which have until now only been inventoried, the complete catalogue of the International Youth Library‘s book holdings can be accessed online through the Library’s webOPAC, as well as through Gateway Bayern, a database maintained by the Bavarian association of libraries. Sections of the webOPAC can be retrieved through the placard collection as well as the White Ravens database.

All books inventoried prior to 1992 and not catalogued can only be researched using in-house card catalogues.

All editions of the White Ravens catalogue, the International Youth Library’s annual review catalogue, can be accessed through a database, beginning with the 1996 edition.

The James Krüss estate collection is indexed through Kalliope, the central association catalogue for estate collections and autographs in Germany.

A few special collections (Maria Denneborg estate collection, the partial estate collection of Michael Ende, the Heinrich estate in-house archive of the International Youth Library, parts of the collection of original children’s drawings) are available through internal databases that can be accessed upon request.

For further information, please consult the links to catalogues provided, as well as the list of institutions relevant to children’s and youth literature research.
