Opening of the 8th White Ravens Festival for International Children & Youth Literature
The 8th White Ravens Festival for International Children's and Youth Literature opens with a festival in the Blutenburg Castle courtyard. The library has prepared a colourful programme for children, young people, parents, grandparents, and readers of all ages.
After the official opening with the Brass Twins, and a short performance by the eleven invited authors, successful author Sabine Bohlmann opens the stage programme with a reading from ‘Frau Honig’. This will be followed by readings by Emma Karinsdotter, Kairi Look and Mo Abbas and a workshop with Spanish illustrator Ximo Abadía. On the ‘White Sofa’, the guests will talk about themselves and their work in flash interviews.
There will also be a giant phoenix on stilts, which will be given wings during the course of the day with wish lists from visitors, craft stations, a book sale, signing sessions and a café in the upper castle courtyard. In the enchanting ambience of the castle courtyard, the wealth of international children's literature and illustration will be celebrated for a whole day.
