Response-Project "Shéhérazade"

In cooperation with BRSO education

As part of the cooperation between the International Youth Library and BRSO Education, the musical work of a response workshop is combined with an illustration workshop at the International Youth Library.

In this project, students create their own music as well as a stage design for Maurice Ravel's "Shéhérazade":
In the process, one group improvises and experiments with sounds and develops sounding responses to the work together with musicians from the BRSO Education. Guided by theater painter Natalie Schaffler and illustrator Ali Boozari, another group designs its own stage sets for the presentation of the compositions created in the response workshop. Common to both groups is an active engagement with traditions and challenges in illustrating and setting to music the stories from 1001 Nights.

The two sub-projects will be brought together in a "pre-concert" and presented publicly by all participants. Afterwards, the BRSO Education will perform Ravel's work in concert.
