James Krüss Tower

James Krüss Tower

One of the four medieval towers of Blutenburg Castle was converted into the James Krüss Tower. A 'glass cabinet tower', which was installed in the middle, leads visitors from landing to landing, displaying countless first editions of his children’s books in many languages such as “Mein Urgroßvater und ich” (“My Great-Grandfather and I”) and “Die glücklichen Inseln hinter dem Winde” (Return to the Happy Islands) plus numerous personal belongings.

The light red-steel-and-glass construction gives visitors the feeling of being inside a light house – a particularly suitable feature because the light house is a recurrent motive in Krüss's stories – and thus pays homage to the author’s home island, Helgoland, off the coast of Northern Germany.

Please announce your visit at the "Herrenhaus" / Reception
