Reading aloud creates future
Nationwide Reading Day 2025 in the Castle of Books
Jella-Lepman-Hall
The Nationwide Reading Day is an initiative of the Reading Foundation, the weekly newspaper DIE ZEIT and the Deutsche Bahn Foundation. It is the largest reading aloud festival in Germany. The International Youth Library Foundation has been taking part for many years and each time invites a prominent personality from politics, society or culture to read aloud.
In 2025 Katharina Schulze, Chair of the Green Party faction in the Bavarian State Parliament, reads from the book “Wir sind (die) Weltklasse!" by Tanya Lieske which is nominated for the Germany Children's Literature Award 2025.
The reading is held in German.
