Seminar for educators

MIT-LESEN! MIT-WIRKEN! Lesen fördern, Demokratie stärken.

Stadtbibliothek Motorama

Reading skills strengthen critical, reflective thinking and are indispensable for a vibrant democracy. In times of increasing disillusionment with democracy, it is more important than ever to promote them. The Netzwerk Leseförderung München is therefore dedicating a symposium to the topic of reading and democracy. Workshops for educators and teachers of all school types will showcase creative possibilities for democratic education that invite direct implementation.

The International Youth Library is participating in the initiative with the workshop “Picture Books as Door Openers – Talking to Children about Democracy.” Using the example of the picture book “Goliath – Der Junge, der ein bisschen anders war” (Goliath – The Boy Who Was a Little Different) by Spanish author Ximo Abadía, the workshop will show how teachers can promote democratic understanding in primary schools using playful and creative concepts and incorporate these concepts into the legally prescribed constitutional quarter hour.

Ort: Münchner Stadtbibliothek Motorama, Rosenheimer Str. 30-32

The Workshop Language is German.
