Birthday Dinner

Guest of James Krüss

Jella-Lepman-Hall

A literary and culinary evening to mark the 100th anniversary of his birth, with Tilman Spreckelsen

To kick off the celebrations for James Krüss' 100th birthday on 31 May, the International Youth Library and the James Krüss Estate are hosting an evening that will put guests in the mood for the North German linguist, children's book author, poet and language researcher with a literary-biographical and culinary programme.

Author, editor and James Krüss expert Tilman Spreckelsen (FAZ) will be the knowledgeable host for the evening. For the first time, he will speak exclusively about his new findings, which will be included in his Krüss biography to be published in 2027, for which he is conducting intensive archival research. With advice from James Krüss' family, a multi-course menu will be served according to the author's preferences: a culinary journey from northern Germany via Bavaria to the Canary Islands.

An evening for James Krüss that also leaves room for conversation and memories.

The cost of the event, including food and drinks, is 65.- Euros per person.

More information on the registration will be found here in due course.
