The James Krüss Prize for International Children's and Young Adult Literature honours and promotes the work of a children's book author whose texts are characterised by linguistic brilliance, originality, imaginative storytelling and cosmopolitanism. The prize can be awarded to either a German or a foreign author. The prerequisite is the presence of the honoured work on the German-language book market. When honouring foreign authors, the main translators are also rewarded.
The winner of this year's prize will be announced in February.
