The bizarre protagonists and fantastical worlds of Chris Riddell Chris Riddell has an unmistakable distinctive style – both modern and traditional. With a fast, steady line, yet a lot of attention to detail, the current British “Children’s Laureate” sketches and draws fantastical worlds that are inhabited by bizarre creatures, sinister villains, and compelling heroes. He has illustrated more than 150 books such as Kathryn Cave’s successful picture book “Something Else”, Jonathan Swift’s “Gulliver’s Travels” and Neil Gaiman’s dark Snow White / Sleeping Beauty fairy tale. Together with the popular author Paul Stewart he has created the internationally bestselling series “The Edge Chronicles”. For more than 20 years Chris Riddell has been active as a political cartoonist for the renowned British Sunday newspaper “The Observer”.In his first solo exhibition in Germany, Chris Riddell presents a wide section through his multi-faceted work. Numerous black-and-white and coloured original illustrations invite visitors to go on adventurous journeys into more or less fantastical universes.
