Award ceremony!

James Krüss Prize for International Children's and Youth Literature 2024 to Nils Mohl

The James Krüss Prize for International Children's and Young Adult Literature is awarded every two years for a work that impresses with its linguistic brilliance, originality, imaginative storytelling, diversity of form and humanity. The prize is sponsored by the James Krüss Heritage Society, which established it in 2012 and commissioned the International Youth Library to organize it. The James Krüss Prize is endowed with 8,000 euros.

We are delighted to announce that this year Nils Mohl will be honored with this award.

The jury statement reads:

'Nils Mohl, born in Hamburg in 1971, tells of the difficulties and chaos of growing up in an inimitable way in many of his novels for young people. From the award-winning novel "Es war einmal Indianerland", published in 2011 and made into a film, to the current young adult book "Henny und Ponger" (2022) - Nils Mohl writes authentically and captivatingly, often in a laconic tone, with humor and a keen sense of the existential impact of adolescence.

The award ceremony for Nils Mohl will take place on July 4, 2024, at 7.30 pm in the International Youth Library at Blutenburg Castle

With the kind support of the James Krüss Erbengemeinschaft.
