When Memo meets a car mechanic and notices how small his own hands are in comparison to the adult’s hands, he is really upset at first. Yet his curiosity gets the better of him: He decides to measure his hands against those of other people, for example his parents’ or his friend Tombiş’s hands. All the people he speaks to off er original, profound, and almost philosophical explanations trying to answer his question of why there is such a surprising variety of hand sizes. Along the way, Memo learns that insecurity and questions can oft en disclose new worlds.
