Here comes ≫the≪ Estonian picture book of 2013. It is a simple story about a house with six floors and the inhabitants of each floor, plus an elevator. The elevator connects everybody with everyone in the house without each necessarily knowing or seeing the other. But we are lucky: taking the elevator the reader gets to know a hedonistic octopus on the first floor who loves her pool and gazing at herself, a sophisticated and Apple-media addicted journalist, a hedgehog on the fifth, and a madly-in-love pigeon couple in the penthouse on the sixth.

In very short episodes and simple sentences, poet, songwriter, and children’s book author Katlin Vainola (b. 1978) depicts animals as human characters, while fantastic illustrator and music enthusiast Ulla Saar adds fun and quirkiness to these characters, as in Lady Octopus’s fancy wardrobe, for example – of course all of her clothes have eight arms or legs.
