Darkness – Fear – Play – Imagination

Jakob is playing in his room and crawls under his bed after his marbles roll underneath. He thinks it’s pretty dark there – spooky, really scary! But to his surprise there is a wonderful, colourful, exciting world to discover down there, as he can play with all kinds of fantastical creatures, not to mention have adventures, solve riddles and overcome his fear of the dark. He does not achieve all of this on his own, but with the help of the readers who accompany him. In the end he crawls out from under the bed and begins to tell his toy car Klari about his marvellous expedition. András Dániel creates a wondrous picture world, which is populated by bizarre creatures. Detailed, playful and with many witty, caricature-like elements, the illustrations are full of surprises for young readers and adults reading to them. (Age: 5+)
