Accident – Coma – Memory disorder –
Family conflict – Secret

Literary fairytale, legend, thriller, and coming-of-age novel. “Anders” (Other) is all this and much more. Felix has an accident. When he wakes up from his coma 263 days afterwards, he has changed, has become really strange. His sensitivity is heightened: He can read other people’s thoughts, can sense what moves them, whether they are sick. Some are fascinated and understand that Anders is something special; but most people are irritated by the “strange” and “knowing child”. They are afraid of Anders – also because they suspect that the boy is guarding a secret that should better not be revealed. Andreas Steinhöfel draws on a rich inventory of motifs and combines various literary models to create something entirely new. He has composed the novel from different narrative perspectives and changing tones. Nonetheless, he proves absolute loyalty toward his eponymous hero. (Age: 10+)
