School – Honesty – Education – Picture book

This picture book tells the story of a Monday morning when Little Piggy wakes up to the insistent ringing of his alarm clock, and finds himself late for school. Fearing the teacher’s reproach, he tries to make up excuses for his lateness before walking into the class, but none of them seem credible. Standing at the entrance to the classroom, he has no choice but to speak the truth. Contrary to his expectation, he is kindly allowed into the class without any punishment. The jittery text is juxtaposed with light-humoured illustrations, which help ease a childrens anxiety about their own misconduct and show them why honesty is the best policy. This book won the Golden Prize of the 5th Hsin-Yi Foundation Picture Book Award. (Age: 3+)
