Hello, Dear Enemy! – Picture Books for Peace and Tolerance.

Picture books are a wonderful medium to increase the willingness of people and nations to live together peacefully. Impressive, colourful pictures and moving texts can conjure up feelings and emotions for readers of all ages (including adults) and inspire them to reconsider their own thoughts and deeds. The selection focuses on contemporary titles, but classic children’s books, such as Erich Kästner’s “The animals’ conference” or Munro Leaf’s “The story of Ferdinand”, are also included.

This exhibition is one of the most successful travelling exhibitions of the International Youth Library so far. It has already been shown at more than 100 places around the world, such as Greece, India, Italy, Japan, Poland, Slovakia, Sri Lanka, and the USA. This fall, 25 new titles were added to this exhibition originally compiled in 1998 (and first updated in 2001).

80 titles (120 books in total) from 20 countries accompanied by 20 English or German language displays (50x70cm) with pictures and text.
