The reference collection comprises nearly 30,000 volumes of secondary literature, about 250 current professional periodicals and 40,000 published and unpublished articles and reports, including newspaper clippings on nearly 4,200 children's book authors and 1,350 illustrators, limited editions, and other grey literature for children’s literature students and professionals from Germany and abroad.
 

The study library offers its visitors access to the materials from both the reference collection and the extensive collections of international children's and youth literature, which also includes approximately 60,000 historical volumes published between 1574 and 1950. Most books will be available within a very short time. Large numbers of titles as well as books stored in our additional stacks outside the castle grounds, however, will not be available on the same day. Therefore, we kindly ask visitors to announce their visit and their research topic in advance
